Negative lag
Lag is: ‘…the minimum necessary lapse of time between the finish of one activity and the finish of another overlapping activity.' Ref The Society of Construction Law Delay and Disruption Protocol, 2nd edition, published in February 2017 by the Society of Construction Law (UK).
The CIOB Planning Protocol 2021 (CIOB PP21), a technical information sheet published by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) in February 2021, defines negative lag as: ‘An overlap between activities / milestones by way of logic with a duration of less than zero resulting in a degree of parallel working.’
